Freed American journalist Jill Caroll speaks about her period of captivity

Freelance journalist Jill Caroll was abducted by the Iraqi Resistance group Kataib AL-Thar(Revenge Brigades) on 7th January?(not sure about the date)..Since then there were about 3 threats issued by the group threatening to kill her unless all iraqi women being held in jails by the Americans are freed..at last after about 3 months in captivity, she was freed on the 30th of March...what raised my interest are the way that Jill Carroll described her captors, and her views about the current state of affair in Iraq..the video below was made by her captors shortly before(or maybe after??) her release..

The last part of the video, which is in Arabic, can be roughly translated as follows:
""The Mujahedeen in Iraq declare the release of the American journalist Jill Caroll, after keeping her for 3 months while the US army or the CIA couldn't manage to rescue her, proving their failure to everybody. They captured tens of innocent people and accused them with kidnapping this journalist,bt today we release her after the American goverment fulfill a part of our requirements after they released some of our women in prisons and to the world,be informed that we have a cause(for fighting), and we defend it till victory or death in the sake of Allah. And also, the journalist is a friend of the Mujahedeen and their brothers, and their voice which defends them in this world, Jill Caroll go back to your family and your home peacefully and safely, and tell the American people what you saw and heard in those 3 months, because you witnessed the facts, and we trust you a lot and are sure you will tell the truth without changing."

If the video above doesnt play, click here

If you guys think she was forced to make that statement(maybe because she was afraid of her captors),see this video, which was made right AFTER her release by Baghdad TV.

Am just glad that they treated her well, and this can be a bonus to the Resistance side..

fuh..what a week

it has been long long time ago in a galaxy far far away since i last updated this blog..actually i'm pretty occupied with all these medical thingies, for the anatomy and histology exam is just around the intersection and there are like tons of info that has to be memorised..maybe i'm in the period of familiarising myself with the world of a medical student..btw let's talk about what i've done during the last weekend(just a summary,of course)..

22nd march, hazim's 18th birthday..no big celebrations, just treated him with bronsted and halawiyat..no need additional info about him to be written here kot,i think he's already a well known guy..hoho..

on the 25th(saturday),we went to malaysian student department in Amman for some sort of workshop that was based on a book by a Dr. Muhaya..IIRC the title of the book is "how to become a successful medical student"..overall it was okay, nothing interesting happened..after that went to ayahanda's house..he just got a new baby so he's doing an "aqiqah" for him/her(matila tatau gender..haha)..luckily all the marhaban part was brief, coz the smell of daging kambings spread all over the house, and we were like starving..the food was good, satay, daging kambing,a kind of special rice etc etc..gendang gendut tali kecapi kenyang perut senang hati ok..hahah..

next destination, mecca mall..went there with abg faez, wali, tadin, munir, faisal, hazim, afiq and myself..played bowling, and initially i thought i was going to win,coz i scored a strike the first turn..but pisang x berbuah 2 kali ok,that was the only time i managed to strike..haha..abg faez won, what a suprise!~haha..after that wondered around window shopping for anything that can be shopped but end up with nothing..everybody was darn tired so went back to irbid and slept..

yesterday(27th) was halfi birthday..happy birthday buddy!!..he's also a PTS student like hazim,so yesterday was his 18th birthday..i just can presume that the rule of physics has changed upside down, coz it was the birthday boy who treated us,instead of us treating him..haha..thanks a lot halfi~!!btw we got a healthy dose of pizza last night, the first since i step my foot here..so i guess that's all for tonight, got some more muscles to be memorised~......

Happy birthday Hadi~~(super belated entry)

For starters,Abdul Hadi B. Damanhuri is one of my 3 housemates who definitely stays in the same house as me..He celebrated his 19th bithday on the 8th of august at Bayt Abg Syiham, which also happened to host a live football match telecast party..Hadi,being an ardent Arsenal supporter, had his joy doubled when Arsenal manage to tie a draw with Real Madrid that night..hehe..ok a birthday bash wouldnt be complete without cakes,so to his delight(and others) a good(and pretty well off..hehe) friend bought for him 2 huge,delicious,mouth-watering cakes, which unfortunately i forgot their flavours..so the guys went on spending the rest of the night watching football as their tummies became fuller than ever with cakes from Al-Di'ah Sweets...Lastly,i wish Hadi all the goodness in this world and hereafter..

Election day

Today is the day.I mean the election day,or in arabic "yaum intikhabaat".Got physiology lecture in the morning, and after that I went to the library, waiting for Hazim and Afiq to come while reading Organic Chemistry in preparation for the coming exam this Saturday.Went to the cafe for some breakfast, and then straight to the polling station.

I'm in no mood to write right now,so i'll just give the summary. The campaigners were so active that they were virtually harassing us,and i had to be a double agent, working for two rival parties(actually working and supporting one party, and vote the other one),we got so many candies and flowers, bumped into an "interesting" person more than once, and the mood was really great!!Also managed to make many new friends, majority of them from the party that i was saboutaging(is this word right?hehe)..We really need things like this in JUST,it just simply relieves us from the boredom that surrounds us most of the time..hehe..So i'm really looking forward to the next best thing to happen, the JUST Cultural Exhibition..

Hazim was feeling so miserable coz he didnt manage to find the girl that he had a crush on while waiting to vote..So he plucked the rose petal by petal while saying "i'll see her,i wont see her" again and again..hahhahaha(jim jangan marah jim)

Election week

So this thursday there will be an election in JUST..i'm not very clear on the purpose of this election, wheter it is to elect a student body,or stuff like wakil rakyat etc etc..btw the campaigning had gone full throttle since monday, with posters covering virtually all part and corners of the university and activists and supporters of the candidates fishing vote(literal translation boley?) from the students..from what i heard, the fav party to win is Kutlah Ittihad Islamiah(kind of Islamic Party la kot),but there is also Kutlah Aqsa, which from its name i think got sumthing to do with the Palestinians, and also other hotshot calon bebas..so i'll vote for anybody who gives me the most stuffs and souvenirs la..hehe

In other developement, there is a Cultural Exhibition being held at Yarmouk University this week..students from various countries were given the chance to promote their respective countries and it was a pretty good exhibition..there are booth from countries like china, nigeria, mauritius etc etc and we get to know their cultures and values..actually i was there for about only 10 mins, coz the place is quite small..hehe..ok it's late now,i'm going to bed..

A reason why

"The scientist does not study nature because it is useful;he studies because he delights in it,and he delights in it because it is beautiful. If nature were not beautiful,it would not be worth knowing, and if nature were not worth knowing, life would not be worth living"-Henri Poincare

Personally for me,all this are true, and as a Muslim,we also study as a way to know God better, and to solidify our belief in Him,and to obey His command.

Isn' it beautiful?

Newcastle forevahh!!

I think i'm the only one in this whole middle east that have a very strong support for Newcastle United.I dunno why,but i've been supporting it since primary school, standard 3 to be precise.I remember my passion began when my mom,who has just arrived home from the UK,gave me a Newcastle jersey as a present(sayang jersey tu dah kecik).Since that moment I've been through it's ups and downs alone in Malaysia with unwavering faith(nak join My NUFC x mampu ok..hehe),no matter what people said or tohmah-ed,for Newcastle was and is not a very very good team like Man U or Arsenal or Chelsea. The weird thing is,I supported Newcastle just like my hometown team, eventhough i've never set foot on British soil, and have no reason to do so(support it like hell).Maybe this is what we call..erm I donno lah what to call..faith maybe..but the important thing is,Newcastle United for Life!!!

P/S : NU just beat Everton 2-0,keep it coming Magpies!!

Long Live Newcastle!,
